A leading figure in tropical parasitology, the Director has spent over two decades advancing research and control strategies for schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis across sub-Saharan Africa. Under their leadership, the Centre has grown into a reference institution, forging partnerships with national health programmes and major international research bodies, and training a new generation of African scientists.
