Prof. Louis-Albert TCHUEM TCHUENTÉ

Founder & Director

Director, Centre for Schistosomiasis & Parasitology

A leading figure in tropical parasitology with over two decades of experience advancing research and control strategies for schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis across sub-Saharan Africa. Under his leadership, the Centre evolved into a reference institution, establishing partnerships with national health programmes and international research bodies while training African scientists.

Scientists leading field mapping campaigns, molecular epidemiology and impact surveys — translating field data into actionable control strategies for endemic regions.

The Research Team combines expertise in parasite genetics, field epidemiology and malacology to support national surveillance and international consortia. Members supervise PhD candidates, coordinate sentinel site studies, and produce evidence used by the National Programme for Control of Schistosomiasis and Intestinal Helminthiasis.
